Description: The Basilica of St. Stephen Major is an ancient church in Milan. Initially dedicated to San Zaccaria, was then headed to Santo Stefano in the tenth century. In its history has undergone numerous reconstruction, expansion and restoration.
It is also called Santo Stefano in Brolo (from the historical name of) or St. Stephen's Gate (in reference to Pusterla of Santo Stefano, now no longer exists).
The December 26, 1476 was the scene of dell'assassinio duke Galeazzo Sforza Mary came to the basilica for the celebrations of patron saint.
