Description: MilanoVendeModa, the most important women’s prêt-a-porter expo, has closed, and everyone – exhibitors, visitors, and organizers – are very pleased with the results.
The 250 collections on display at the four-day event (from February 21 to 24 at Fieramilanocity) all had one thing in common: high quality products that were much admired by buyers from Italy and abroad.
There were 8,168 visitors, of which 30% were foreigners from 30 countries. International buyers particularly appreciated the splendid collections bearing the “Made in Italy” label that represents Italian style, creativity, and quality, the successful elements of Italian production.
These results, which were essentially in line with those of the February 2007 edition, are a positive indicator, and the 5% growth compared to the September edition is a comforting statistic considering the current situation of the entire system.
“Due to the current situation a strategic alliance between companies in the fashion industry is necessary now more than ever before,” said Corrado Peraboni, Managing Director of Fiera Milano Expocts. “It is the only way we can successfully face the challenges of the global market.”
MVM’s light, refreshing atmosphere was an indication of the organizers’ desire for innovation and continuous improvement that everyone noticed and much appreciated. Another confirmation of this fact was The Street project, which was created for young designers and is merely the first phase of a vaster plan that will be introduced in September 2008.
